I make these poppies by hand from white chamotte clay. Once dry, I load them into a gas kiln and fire them at 1000°C. Red-hot, I quickly dip them into a bubbling liquid raku glaze. The glaze gets very scared when it comes into contact with such a hot poppy and splashes even more, creating unique mottled patterns on its surface. I instantly pull the poppies from the glaze and immerse them in cold water, where they bubble and cool, not very pleased. Once slightly cooled, I remove them from the water and let them dry. Once dry, I attach the stems and send them to any part of the world.
And if there are difficult moments, look at my poppies - they have been through fire and water, and perhaps that is why they have become so beautiful 🙂.
